How we pick and rank the pizza

The rules behind Pizza Bangkok: real places on Google Maps, ratings weighted by review count, and styles only with proof.

Where the information comes from

Every place, rating, review count, address, phone number, opening hours, price range, review and photo on this site comes from Google Maps (the Google Places API), pulled on 2 Nov 2026. We searched Google Maps for pizza in Bangkok in English and Thai, area by area and style by style, and found 186 places that pass the rules below, with 133,390 Google reviews between them.

Menu prices are copied from each restaurant's own menu (its website or ordering page) or its LINE MAN delivery page, with the link and the date we checked. Where we couldn't find a menu, we show only Google's price range per person.

Who gets in

  • Open, according to Google Maps.
  • A pizza place: Google lists it as a pizza restaurant or pizza delivery, it has pizza in its name, or it is an Italian restaurant whose Google reviews talk about the pizza.
  • Rated 4.2 or better from at least 25 Google reviews.
  • In Bangkok (within about 22 km of the centre).
  • Not one of the big delivery chains (Pizza Hut, The Pizza Company, Domino's): everyone already knows where they are.

How the ranking works

Places are ordered by a weighted rating: (rating × reviews + 4.4 × 150) ÷ (reviews + 150). A 5.0 from 30 reviews ends up around 4.5; a 4.7 from 3,000 reviews stays at about 4.69. So places with lots of happy diners rank above places with a handful of perfect scores.

The rating is the place's overall Google rating, not a score for its pizza alone. For an Italian restaurant with a long menu, the pizza is part of the score, not all of it.

The style lists

A place goes on the Neapolitan, wood-fired, New York-style, sourdough or Roman list only when its own name, Google's summary of it, or a real Google review says it serves that style. We show that quote on the list and on the place's page, and we read every quote by hand and took out the ones that didn't really say it (a review about sourdough bread, say, or one saying the crust was "not wood-fired at all"). A style list needs at least 4 places before we publish it.

  • Delivery: pizza-first places that Google lists as delivering.
  • Late night: Google's hours show the place open until 23:00 or later on at least 4 days a week.
  • Cheap: Google's price range for the place ends at ฿400 a person or less, or Google marks it as inexpensive.

The areas

Places are put in an area by their location on Google Maps: west of the river is Thonburi, and on the east side each place goes to the nearest of 12 area centres (Sukhumvit, Thonglor & Ekkamai, Silom & Sathorn and so on). Places far from all of them are listed as "elsewhere in Bangkok".

What we don't do

No place pays to be listed or to move up. We don't write reviews of our own, we don't invent dishes or prices, and we don't change Google's ratings. Reviews are shown with their author's name and a link to Google; reviews written in another language are marked "Translated by Google".

Which places get in?

Places that are open on Google Maps, are pizza places (Google lists them as a pizza restaurant, they have pizza in the name, or they're an Italian restaurant whose Google reviews talk about the pizza), are rated 4.2 or better from at least 25 reviews, and are in Bangkok.

What is the weighted rating?

We pull the rating of places with few reviews towards a middle score of 4.4: (rating × reviews + 4.4 × 150) ÷ (reviews + 150). A place with thousands of reviews keeps a score close to its real rating; a place with 30 reviews has to earn more before it climbs.
